Incorporating Numerical Variables into Workspaces
A numerical variable has no impact on what users see in a workspace until it is incorporated into metric definitions to affect how report values are computed.
Numerical variables can only be added to metric definitions through the Custom Metric Editor. Variables are added to the MAQL syntax like other workspace elements. Select them from the sidebar.
In the following example, the Var_Commission numerical variable represents each user’s personal commission rate, which is multiplied by the total amount won. When this metric is inserted into a report that filters for the accounts each user helped to close, this metric allows the user to keep tabs on her commissions.
