Importing Your Logical Data Model into CloudConnect

Import the data model from other projects for use in your current project. For repeated or templated types of logical data flows, create these data model templates for importation into projects in development.

This procedure is intended to import LDM files. For more information on importing XML files used by the command-line tool, see Importing CL Tool XMLs in CloudConnect.

The importer can import compressed files of various formats. Before you import files, archive them. Supported formats include ZIP, TAR, and JAR formats.

To import a data model from another project, you must be a project admin for both projects.

When an existing project’s LDM is imported into a logical data model opened in CloudConnect, the objects with the same identifiers are overwritten, and the objects with non-existing identifiers are added to the opened logical data model. Before you begin, verify that you intend to overwrite objects with matching identifiers.

Steps:

  1. In the Project Explorer tab, select the project folder. Then, select the folder into which you want to import content. Depending on the type of content, you must import it into the appropriate destination folder. For more information on folder structure, see Loading Data Using CloudConnect.

  2. Secondary-click the *.ldm file and select Import….

  3. Select the type of source to import, and click Next.

  4. To browse for files, click Browse…. Navigate your local environment to select the file or files to import. Click Open…. By default, the importer chooses to import files into the selected folder.

  5. To import into a different folder, click Browse…. Navigate your CloudConnect projects to select the destination folder. Click OK.

  6. To complete the import, click Finish. The content is imported to the selected folder.

  7. (Optional) To improve the layout, select the imported objects and click the Arrange tool in the application toolbar.

You can also import logical data model objects into an opened logical data model. With the LDM file opened in the Model Editor, select File > Import. Then, select the Logical Data Model folder and click GoodData Project Model Import. Complete the remainder of the steps. The objects that are imported are selected in the opened LDM.
